| ObjectiveTo understand the level of self-care agency during the indwelling time of the patients with breast cancer, and to analyze the relationship between self-care agency and self-management efficacy and social support during the retention period of the patients with breast cancer, and to explore the factors that affect the self-care agency during the indwelling time of the patients with breast cancer.MethodsA convenient sampling method was used to select breast cancer patients from a Grade 3A tumor hospital in Zhengzhou during the period of infusion port. The study tools include the basic data questionnaire, the Chinese version of the Self-Care Agency(ESCA),the Chinese version of the Research by People to Promote Health(SUPPH)and the Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS).A total of 270 questionnaires were sent out in the field investigation stage,261 valid questionnaires were recovered, and the effective recovery rate was 96.67%.The data were inputted into Epidata3.1 database and analyzed by SPSS22.0 software. The data were described by mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage.One-way ANOVA,independent sample t-test were used to compare the differences of self-care agency scores between different age, treatment methods and other basic data.Pearson correlation was used to analyze the self-management efficacy of patients. The relationship between social support and self-care agency;Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the factors affecting self-care ability of breast cancer patients.Results1 The total score of self-care agency of breast cancer patients was(103.74±22.80)during the period of indwelling of implanted intravenous infusion port,in which 169 cases(64.8%)had average self-care ability and 92 cases(35.2%)were in higher level. The average scores of each dimension were(2.86±0.57),(2.46±0.58),(2.32±0.55)and(2.31±0.56)for self-care responsibility,self-perception,health knowledge and self-care skills,respectively.2 The score of self-management efficacy of breast cancer patients was(96.44±13.02)during the period of implanted intravenous infusion port indwelling, among which 221(84.7%)patients were at moderate level and 40(15.3%)were at high level. The average scores of each dimension from high to low were: positive attitude(3.63±0.57),self-decision-making(3.39±0.77)and self-decompression(3.18±0.60).3 The score of social support in breast cancer patients was(38.68 ±4.34)during the period of infusion port.Among them, the score of social support was moderate in 22cases(85.1%)and higher in 39 cases(14.9%).The mean score of items from high to low was subjective support(5.55 ±0.63),objective support(2.98 ±0.90)and utilization of support(2.51 ±0.59).4 The results of univariate analysis showed that the level of education, marital status, residence of family, monthly income per family, type of health insurance, maintenance once a month, and adverse reactions related to transfusion port occurred in breast cancer patients. The difference of self-care agency between catheter retention time and infusion port was statistically significant, and the above factors were the influencing factors.5 Pearson correlation analysis of breast cancer patients with implanted intravenous infusion port during indwelling showed that the total score and dimensions of self-care efficacy were positively correlated with self-care agency(P<0.01).The total score and dimensions of social support were positively correlated with self-nursing ability(P<0.05).6 Multiple linear regression analysis of self-care agency of breast cancer patients during infusion port showed that: self-management efficacy, education level, social support, retention time, family per capita monthly income, marital status,Family residence explains 63.4% of patients’ ability to self-care.Conclusions1 The self-care agency of breast cancer patients was in the middle level during the period of infusion port,in which the self-care responsibility level was the highest and the self-care skill level was the lowest.2 There was a positive correlation between self-management efficacy, social support and self-care agency in breast cancer patients.3 The factors that affect the self-care agency of breast cancer patients during the period of infusion port retention include cultural level, marital status, family residence, family monthly income,Catheter retention time, social support and self-care agency. |
