Objective: Through observing the improvement of constipation symptoms in elderly patients with functional constipation based on oatmeal, drinking water, exercise and acupoint-pressing,this study preliminarily explored the clinical efficacy, mechanism, safety and clinical value of the comprehensive intervention program of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of elderly functional constipation. Methods: Through calculation, the required sample size is about 100 cases. All the cases studied were from the patients who met the diagnostic criteria of functional constipation and the criteria of intake and drainage in the outpatient and inpatient departments of the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2018 to September 2018.According to the random number table method,50 cases were divided into treatment group and control group.Patients in the treatment group were given 50 g oatmeal as part of breakfast,1500 ml of water a day and at least 1000 meters of fast walking a day. After breakfast, four acupoints,Zusanli,Dachangshu,Sanyinjiao and Tianshu, were applied at each point for 5 minutes. The patients in the control group were given PEG 4000 powder,10 grams in each bag,one bag at a time, once a day, dissolved in a small cup of water for a meal. The course of treatment was 2 months in both groups. The improvement of clinical symptom scores before treatment, one month after treatment, after treatment and during follow-up were observed in the two groups.Result:1.Clinical efficacy comparison: The effective rate of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group, and the rank sum test showed that P > 0.05.There was no significant difference in the effective rate between the two groups. In the first month of treatment, the treatment group was better than the control group in defecation frequency and difficulty(P < 0.05).At the end of treatment and follow-up,the treatment group was better than the control group in defecation frequency, defecation time and degree of difficulty(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in defecation characteristics and abdominal distension score between the two groups(P > 0.05).In terms of total scores, the treatment group was better than the control group at the end of treatment and follow-up,and the results were statistically significant(P < 0.05).2.Comparison of recurrence rates between the two groups: The recurrence rate was 12.2% in the treatment group and 29.1% in the control group.Chi-square test was used to compare the recurrence rates of the two groups, suggesting that the recurrence rate of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05).3.Safety analysis: Adverse reactions: No obvious adverse reactions occurred in the treatment group during the treatment period;1 case occurred in the control group. The type of adverse reactions was mild diarrhea, which could be alleviated by itself after withdrawal. Before and after treatment, the general vital signs, liver and kidney function, electrolyte, urine and stool routine, electrocardiogram of the two groups were examined, and there was no significant change.Conclusion:1.Comprehensive treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and polyethylene glycol 4000 powder can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of Senile Functional constipation, both of which have the same effect.2.TCM comprehensive treatment of Senile Functional constipation can improve the frequency of defecation, defecation time and dysfunction of defecation better than PEG 4000 powder.3.The recurrence rate of Senile Functional Constipation Treated by TCM comprehensive program is lower than that of PEG 4000 powder.4.The comprehensive scheme of traditional Chinese medicine is simple, convenient and low-cost.It can effectively treat senile functional constipation and has certain clinical practical value.
