| Purpose:As a low pH value solution with high redox potential, low active chlorine concentration and certain antibacterial disinfection ability, electrolyzed oxidizing water(EOW)is used more in food processing and instrument disinfection, but less in oral application. In this experiment, both the effect of EOW on the number of Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans and the changes of the number of colonies in the oral cavity were measured by plate counting method. The effect of the use of electrolyzed oxidizing water on the number of air colonies before ultrasonic cleaning. These experiments provide theoretical foundation for clinical application of electrolyzed oxidizing water to prevent or reduce cross-infection.Method:1.Diluting the S.aureus and Candida albicans standard strains with sterile saline to prepare a bacterial suspension with a concentration of 5x10~5-5x10~6 CFU/ml.And testing the bacteriostatic effect of sterile distilled water,0.12%compound chlorhexidine solution and the electrolyzed oxidizing water by pour method on the S.aureus and Candida albicans. The percentage of the decrease in the number of colonies was used as the effect evaluation.2.From March 2018 to December 2018,90 patients who were admitted to the Department of Stomatology of the Affiliated Hospital of the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force Logistics College were randomly divided into three groups,30 cases of each group. We analysised the general information of the three groups.Distilled water,0.12%compound chlorhexidine solution and electrolyzed oxidizing water were used for 1 minute respectively, and we used the filter paper to collected the samples from the palatal mucosa of the molars randomly to carry out bacterial culture, and detected the colonies in the oral cavity before and after gargle.3.From March 2018 to December 2018,90 patients who were admitted to the Department of Stomatology of the Affiliated Hospital of the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force Logistics College were randomly divided into three groups,30 cases of each group. We analysised the general information and the records the patient’s simplified oral health index of the three groups. Before the ultrasonic treatment, the three groups of patients were treated with sterile distilled water,0.12%compound chlorhexidine solution and electrolyzed oxidizing water for 1 minute respectively. The bacteria were sampled before the ultrasonic treatment, immediately after the treatment and 10 minutes after the treatment,at the position of 30 cm and 1m around the patient’s mouth so that we could compare the number of colonies in the air.Besides,we collected the total amount of bacteria in the air of the whole process at a position of 30 cm away from the patient’s mouth, and the number of colonies was observed.Result:1.The compound chlorhexidine group and the electrolyzed oxidizing water had inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. The inhibition rate of the electrolyzed oxidizing water was slightly higher than that of the compound chlorhexidine group(P>0.05).2.There were no statistical differences(P>0.05)of gender, age, number of brushing times per day and the time of brushing between the three groups,so the three groups were comparable. The number of oral colonies in the electrolyzed oxidizing water group was lower than that in the control group and the compound chlorhexidine group(P<0.05).3.There were no statistical differences(P>0.05)of gender, age, number of brushing times per day,the time of brushing and the simplified oral health index before the treatment between the three groups,so the three groups were comparable. There were no significant differences in the number of colonies in the air between the three groups at 30 cm and 1 m before the ultrasonic cleaning(P>0.05).The number of colonies of electrolyzed oxidizing water group in the air at 30cm and 1m away from patient’s mouth before the ultrasonic treatment, immediately after the treatment and10 minutes after the treatment, was lower than that of the control group and the compound chlorhexidine group(P<0.05).The number of colonies in air of electrolyzed oxidizing water group in the whole process of treatment at 30 cm away from the patient’s oral cavity, was lower than that of the control group and the compound chlorhexidine group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Electrolyzed oxidizing water has an inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans.Using Electrolyzed oxidizing water can effectively control the number of microorganisms in the oral cavity and reduce the number of bacterial colonies in the air, which can prevent or reduce the occurrence of cross-infection events and provide the experimental basis for the dental treatment. |
