Objective: To study the relationship between serum IL-33 level and fractional exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO)and pulmonary function in patients with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma by detecting the expression level of IL-33 in these patients, and explore the role of IL-33 in acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma and its feasibility as a predictor of airway inflammation and airflow limitation. Methods: Forty-six patients with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma were collected as asthma group and 24 healthy people in our hospital as healthy control group. The expression of IL-33 in serum of the two groups was detected by ELISA.FeNO in the two groups was detected by nitric oxide analyzer. The main pulmonary function indexes of the asthma group were measured by pulmonary function analyzer, including the first second forced expiratory volume(FEV1),the percentage of forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1% pred)and the ratio of FEV1/FVC were calculated. To analyze the difference of serum IL-33 expression between asthma group and healthy control group, and the correlation between serum IL-33 level and FeNO and lung function index in asthma group.Results1.The serum IL-33 level of patients with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma was higher than that of healthy control group(P < 0.05).2.The level of FeNO in patients with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma was higher than that in healthy control group(P < 0.05),and the level of IL-33 was positively correlated with FeNO(r = 0.504,P < 0.05).3.The results of correlation analysis between serum IL-33 level and FEV1,FEV1% pred,FEV1/FVC in patients with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma are as follows:IL-33 was negatively correlated with FEV1(r=-0.644,P< 0.05);IL-33 was negatively correlated with FEV1% pred(r=-0.768,P< 0.05);IL-33 was negatively correlated with FEV1/FVC(r=-0.759,P< 0.05).Conclusion:1.Serum IL-33 can be used as a serological indicator of airway inflammation in acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma to some extent.2.Serum IL-33 participates in airway inflammation of bronchial asthma,as an index of serum inflammation,it has certain reference value for predicting airflow limitation in acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma.
