Objective: To observe the effects of White Tiger Decoction Plus Ginseng combined with short-term intensive insulin therapy on the glycemic variability, the total dosage of insulin, the number of days of intensive treatment, the number of days of hospitalization, and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus(Exuberance of Fire and Heat Syndrome). To discuss the clinical significance of the treatment of White Tiger Decoction Plus Ginseng combined with short-term intensive insulin therapy on glycemic variability and the improvement of TCM syndrome in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus(Exuberance of Fire and Heat Syndrome). Methods: According to the criteria of inclusion randomly,66 patients with Type 2Diabetes Mellitus(Exuberance of Fire and Heat Syndrome)were randomly divided into two groups: the treatment group(n = 33)and the control group(n = 33).In addition to the basic treatment(health education, dietary control, exercise, etc.),the control group was given short-term intensive insulin therapy(continuous subcutaneous injection of insulin pump),and the treatment group was treated with White Tiger Decoction Plus Ginseng on the basis of the control group. The changes of glycemic variability, the total dosage of insulin, the number of days of intensive treatment, the number of days of hospitalization and TCM syndrome were observed during short-term intensive insulin therapy in the two groups. The software of SPSS24.0 was used for statistical analysis.Results:(1)TCM syndrome score and curative effect evaluation: White Tiger and Ginseng decoction can improve the TCM syndrome of T2 DM patients with exuberance of fire and heat syndrome, and the difference is statistically significant compared with the control group and that before treatment(P < 0.01),and there is significant difference between the two groups(P<0.01).The effective rate was 96.77% in the experimental group and 84.38% in the control group. There was significant differencebetween the two groups(P<0.01).(2)The glycemic variability: After treatment, the level of standard deviation of blood glucose(SDBG),postprandial glycemic excursion(PPGE),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),postprandial 2h plasma glucose(P2hPG)of these two groups are lower than these before before treatment, and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the level of mean of blood glucose(MBG),largest amplitude of glycemic excursion(LAGE)of the experimental group is lower than these of the control group, and the difference is statistically significant(P < 0.01),The results showed that the experimental group had significant effect on improving the level of MBG,LAGE.(3)The total dosage of insulin, the number of days of intensive treatment, the number of days of hospitalization : After treatment,The total dosage of insulin, the number of days of intensive treatment, the number of days of hospitalization of the treatment group was significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).(4)Security indicators: Before and after the treatment, blood routine examination, stool routine examination, urine routine examination, liver function, kidney function, electrocardiogram(ECG)of two groups were all in normal range, and there were no adverse reactions and adverse events during the treatment. Conclusion: Professor Yue Rensong’s use of "White Tiger Decoction Plus Ginseng" combined with short-term intensive insulin therapy in the treatment of T2 DM patients can not only improve their symptoms, but also control glucose level stably,Improve the glycemic variability, reduce the total dosage of insulin, shorten the number of days of intensive treatment and hospitalization,so the cost of medical care will be decreased.Compared with short-term intensive insulin therapy,it is worthy of further study.
