The Han Dynasty was a period of rapid development in Chinese history.Meanwhile, the more than 400 years of the han dynasty was also a period of high incidence of diseases.According to the author’s statistics about 50 outbreaks of infectious disease. The kinds of disease mainly include typhoid fever, dysentery epidemic disease, intestinal Pi epidemic malaria, cholera, cattle, sheep, etc, typhoid and dysentery epidemic disease happens often. The incidence of the disease in the Han dynasties was more frequent in the eastern han dynasty than in the western han dynasty.Spatially, the south and densely populated areas have higher frequency. The main causes of the outbreak and spread of the disease in the han dynasty includes climatic factors, natural disasters, effects of war, special geographical environment, social customs, improper control measures of the ruling class and so on.Climate factors, natural disasters, war factors and special geographical environment can cause diseases directly, especially natural disasters and war factors. While the social customs and the improper prevention and control measures of the ruling class cannot cause the disease directly,it is unhelpful to the prevention and control of the disease,on the contrary,it provides conditions for the spread of the disease and a new round of epidemic. In the Han Dynasty, both the government and the people had corresponding measures to prevent and control the occurrence and epidemic of the disease. However, due to the social economic development and people’s cognition level at that time, the effect of implementation of these measures was not ideal.Among them, the measures of prevention and control of the disease are obviously theological and superstitious, and it is difficult to achieve the expected effect. Therefore, the frequent outbreak of diseases had a great impact on the politics, economy, population, culture, medicine and other aspects of the Han Dynasty.Nevertheless, the implementation of measures also saved many lives, which reflected the courage of people to fight against diseases at that time, and also provided experience for the construction of epidemic prevention system for future generations and even today.
