| ObjectivesThis study aims to investigate the current status of parenting stress, mindfulness level and coping style of cerebral palsy children’s parents, further to analyze the main influencing factors of parenting stress, mindfulness level and coping style. We plan to find the relationship with parenting stress, mindfulness level and coping style of cerebral palsy children’s parents, and to explore the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction(MBSR)on cerebral palsy children’s parents. Therefore, this paper will provide reference for psychological nursing intervention of parents of children with cerebral palsy.Methods(1)By using convenient sampling method,270 cerebral palsy children’s parents who met the inclusion criteria were investigated in 4 hospitals of Hunan province(Sep.2018 to Apr.2019)with using general population information questionnaires, parental stress scale-simple form, mindfulness awareness scale and parental coping style scale as research tools.250 valid questionnaires were finally collected, and the effective rate was 92.59%.The questionnaire work was to understand the status of parenting stress, mindfulness level and coping style of cerebral palsy children’s parents, and to analyze the main influencing factors of parenting stress, mindfulness level and coping style and the relationship between them.(2)Using the random sampling method,80 palsy children’s parents who met the inclusion criteria in the department of children’s rehabilitation of a third-grade hospital in Hengyang(May 2019 to Oct.2019)were selected as the research objects. These participants were randomly divided into the intervention group(n=40)and the control group(n=40).In the process of intervention, two parents in each group withdrew, and 38 parents in the intervention group and the control group respectively engaged the study in the end.The intervention group(n=38)was treated with 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction and routine psychological intervention, while the control group(n=38)was only treated with routine psychological intervention. The parenting stress scores, mindfulness scores and parental coping style scores of the parents of the two groups were measured respectively.Statistical analysis of data was performed using Statistical Package software(SPSS-22.0).Statistical methods included descriptive statistics,one-way ANOVA,multiple linear regression analysis,Spearman correlation analysis,t test,chi-square test(χ~2),and Mann-Whitney U test.Results(1)The total score of parental stress in cerebral palsy children’s parents was(99.84±20.65),and the average score of its items was(2.77±0.57),which was at a very high level. The score of parental distress was the highest in all dimensions. The main influencing factors are the child’s age, degree of paralysis, treatment time, employment status, family monthly income, mindfulness level, and parental coping styles, and these factors explained76.5%of the total variation of the parenting pressure regression equation.Monthly income has the most significant effect on parental pressure of parents of children with cerebral palsy through the standardized coefficient.(2)The score of mindfulness in cerebral palsy children’s parents was(55.74±11.86),and the score ranged from 24 to 82.The main influencing factors are parenting stress, employment status and monthly family income, which explained 14.4%of the total variation of the regression equation of mindfulness score.(3)The score of parental coping styles was(106.79±14.79),and the score range was from 73 to 141.The item average score of parental coping styles and dimensions were divided into(2.37±0.33),(2.67±0.34),(2.19±0.41)and(2.13±0.57),respectively.Parental positive coping styles were at a low level. The main influencing factors are parenting stress and gender of the child, which explained 32.7%of the total variation of the regression equation of parental coping styles score.(4)There was a significant correlation between parental mindfulness level, parental coping styles and parenting stress in children with cerebral palsy. There was a negative correlation between parenting stress and mindfulness level(r=-0.371,P<0.01).There is a negative correlation between parental stress and parental coping styles(r=-0.545,P<0.01).There was no correlation between parental mindfulness levels and parental coping styles(r=0.136,P>0.05).(5)Before the intervention, there was no significant difference between the intervention group and the control group in general information, parental stress level, mindfulness level, parental coping style level(P>0.05).(6)After the intervention, the parental stress scores and scores of all dimensions in the intervention group were significantly lower than these before intervention(P<0.05).After intervention, the parental stress scores and scores of all dimensions in the intervention group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).(7)After the intervention, parental mindfulness score in the intervention group was significantly higher than before the intervention(P<0.05).After the intervention, parental mindfulness score of children with cerebral palsy in the intervention group was significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in parental mindfulness scores of the control group before and after the intervention(P>0.05).(8)After the intervention, the scores of parental coping styles and scores of each dimension in the intervention group were significantly higher than those before the intervention(P<0.05).After the intervention, the scores of parental coping styles and all dimensions in the intervention group were significantly higher than those of in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions(1)Cerebral palsy children’s parents have very high level of parental stress, and their mindfulness were at a medium level, and the level of parental coping styles was very low.(2)There was a negative correlation between parental mindfulness, parental coping styles, and parental stress in children with cerebral palsy.(3)Mindfulness-based stress reduction is helpful to reduce the parental pressure of children with cerebral palsy and improve the level of parental mindfulness and coping style, thus it was worth promoting and applying in clinical nursing. |
