Objective:To investigate the status,the correlation and the influencing factors of hardy personality,professional identity and turnover intention of nurses in operating room.Methods:411 operating room nurses in 22 public hospitals in Taizhou were investigated by using the mobile questionnaire.The questionnaire consisted General Condition Questionnaire,Hardy Personality Questionnaire,Turnover Intention Questionnaire and Professional Identity Questionnaire for Nurses.Descriptive analysis.correlation analysis and regression analysis of general demography,hardy personality,professional identity and turnover intention were performed.Results:(1)A total of 411 questionnaires were collected and 31 unqualified questionnaires were deleted.The effective rate is 92.5%.The reliability analysis of usable questionnaires revealed that the Crowns Bach alpha coefficient of the Hardy Personality Questionnaire was 0.968,the Crowns Bach alpha coefficient of the Professional Identity Questionnaire for Nurses was 0.978,and the Crowns Bach alpha coefficient of the Turnover Intention Questionnaire was 0.830.It proved that the data meet the reliability requirement for the further analysis.(2)The total score of hardy personality was 2.58±0.60,lower than the national norm(P<0.01).74(19.47%)had low hardy personality,278(73.16%)had medium hardy personality and 28(7.37%)had high hardy personality.There were statistically significant differences in the different levels of age,length of employment and rank of hospital(P<0.05).(3)The total score of professional identity was 104.17±21.73.The different levels of professional identity were:10(2.63%)lower score,106(27.89%)low score,204(53.68%)medium score,60(15.79%)high score.There were statistically significant differences in the different levels of age,length of employment,education,rank of hospital,hardy personality(P<0.05).(4)The total score of turnover intention was 104.17±21.73.68(17.89%)nurses were at a highest level,214(56.32%)were at a higher level,92(24.21%)were at a lower level,and 6(1.58%)were at a lowest level.There were statistically significant differences in the different levels of age,length of employment,gender,marriage,education,forms of employment,positions,technical titles,shifts,hardy personality,and professional identity(P<0.05).(5)Pearson correlation analysis showed that hardy personality was related positively to professional identity,and was related negatively to turnover intention.Professional identity was related negatively to turnover intention(P<0.01).(6)By multiple linear regression analysis,professional identity was chosen as the dependent variable,demographic variables and the dimensions of hardy personality were chosen as independent variables.Four factors made significant effects on the synthetical score of professional identity and the explanation(68.8%)of the total variation,including commitment,control,persistence and length of employment.Also,turnover intention was chosen as the dependent variable,demographic variables,the dimensions of hardy personality and the dimensions of professional identity were independent variables.Five factors made significant contributions to the synthetical score of turnover intention and the explanation of the total variation(30.3%),consisting of the professional identity evaluation,age,professional social skill,education,shifts and employment forms.Controlling factors of the demographic,four factors composed of professional identity evaluation,challenge,commitment and professional social skill,which contributed significantly to the synthetical score of turnover intention and the explanation of the total variation(21.5%).Conclusion:(1)The hardy personality and professional identity of nurses in operating room were at the medium level and the turnover intention was at a high level.(2)Hardy personality varied with age,length of employment and ranks of hospital.In addition,professional identity varied with age,length of employment,education,ranks of hospital and levels of hardy personality.Turnover intention varied with age,length of employment,gender,marriage,education,forms of employment,positions,technical titles,shifts,levels of hardy personality and levels of professional identity.(3)A positive significant correlation was found between hardy personality and professional identity,whereas these two factors showed significant negative correlationes with turnover intention.Hardy personality exerted a major impact on professional identity.The commitment,control and persistence had positive predict ability to professional identity.Moreover,hardy personality and professional identity had a combined effect in turnover intention,in which the professional social skills and challenge had positive predict ability to turnover intention,while professional identity evaluation and commitment negatively predicted to turnover intention.
