| PART Ⅰ A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY ON COGNITION AND APPLICATION OF VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENTATION IN CHILDREN AMONG PEDIATRICIANSObjective: To understand the status of pediatricians’ understanding of vitamin A deficiency(VAD)in children and the application status of vitamin A(VA)supplements, and to analyze the influencing factors.Method:After consulting some experts’ opinions for revision and finalization,a self-made questionnaire on the cognition and application of VA supplementtation was used to survey on pediatricians and child health care doctors in the "children health care We Chat group" from January2019 to February 2019.Results:1)A total of 1,900 doctors completed the questionnaire survey.72.9% of pediatricians would recommend parents to use VA supplementation in clinical practice,24.7% though it was necessaryaccording to the situation, and only 2.3% said they would not recommend it.Multivariate disordered multi-classification logistic regression analysis shows that pediatricians who would not recommend parents to use VA supplements were used as controls, pediatricians who had received VA-related training were more likely to recommend parents to use VA supplements.Among them, the OR values(95%CI)of training within 1 year and within 1 to 3 years were 6.434(1.954-21.178)and 9.287(2.207-39.080).In addition, compared with tertiary hospitals, pediatricians in secondary hospitals would recommend parents to use VA supplements according to the situation in a lower proportion, with an OR value(95%CI)of 0.437(0.222-0.862).2)more than 99% of pediatricians know at least one kind of VA source, high risk factors of deficiency and related diseases.89.9% of pediatricians have recognized that VAD is common in children, but only about 50.0% of pediatricians know the diagnostic criteria aof VAD and Marginal vitamin A deficiency(MVAD).3)85.2% of pediatricians believe that continuous supplementation of VA is needed. The starting time of the supplement is from 1 to 5 months after birth(78.9%),and the supplementary dose is the sum of dietary intake and supplement.(72.8%),and is related to the feeding method and feeding amount(97.7%),but there is a big difference in the stopping time.About 50% think that it should be stopped according to the situation, and about 25% think that it should be stopped within 3 years old,of which 4.4% are under 1 year old,1 to 2years old(including 2 years old)accounted for 11.8%.2 to 3 years old(including 3 years old)accounted for 8.7%.17.1% think to stoop using after 3 years old. Conclusion: In our country, the majority of pediatricians have begun to focus on VA in children, and knew a lot about VA.VA supplements application during children is widespread. However, there are still manyunreasonable aspects of VA supplementation due to the lack of uniform guidelines, the related training and education should be strengthened.PART Ⅱ A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY ON COGNITION AND APPLICATION OF VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENTATION IN CHILDREN AMONG CAREGIVERSObjective: To understand the cognitive status of caregivers on VAD in children, and the status quo of VA supplement application,to analyze the influencing factors.Method:A total of 350 caregivers who came to Children’s Health Department were selected,302 caregivers who were willing to cooperate as responders.A self-made questionnaire was used to survey about the cognition and application of vitamin A supplementation.Results:82.5% children received VA supplements. The place of residence, the education level of mother and the main caregiver will affect the application of VA supplements(OR = 2.127,0.409,1.766,P<0.05).Most caregivers have a positive attitude toward VA nutrition,91.7%of them think VA is important for children’s health, but in a number of VAD problems, the awareness rate is below 50%,especially the foods rich in VA,VAD related diseases and performance, and when VA supplements start and stop. Conclusion: although VA supplements are widely used, there are still many deficiencies, and caregivers’ understanding of VAD also needs to be improved. It is necessary to carry out education on VA-related knowledge for caregivers,in order to promote the rational use of VA supplements. |
