China's social development needs a large number of high-quality skilled talents, among which,high-quality skilled nurses are also seriously insufficient.Correspondingly,China is striving to develop secondary vocational nursing. However,at present, interest of secondary vocational school students in elementary medical courses is very low, which has had a strong impact on the learning effect of nursing courses, and will have an impact on the cultivation of high-quality skilled nurses in the end. Therefore,it is imperative to promote secondary vocational nursing students' learning interest in elementary medical courses. For the moment in China, there isn't much research in this field. The research questions are designed on the basis of the author's teaching experience and reflection in elementary medical courses and of communication with plenty of teachers and students.600 students from 12 classes in grade 2017,16 teachers in elementary medical courses and 18 professional teachers are selected from a health school in Chengdu and are investigated with questionnaires. In order to learn the reasons why they chose nursing, their learning status in junior middle school, their learning status in elementary medical courses, and the comparison between the learning of elementary medical courses and professional technical courses, the students are investigated twice at the end of the second and fourth semester respectively. The selected teachers are investigated in order to learn their professional background, their knowledge in pedagogy and psychology, their mastery of the teaching content, students learning of the essential knowledge, and the curriculum provision.Besides,a further interview is made among 6 teachers in elementary medical courses and 3 teachers in professional technical courses. It has been found in the investigation that elementary medical courses are of great importance to students' professional technical courses, nurse qualification examination, and future clinical nursing. The reasons include: secondary vocational nursing students often attach little importance to secondary vocational education;students dislike nursing and regard nursing as being risky;lack of good habit and confidence in learning;elementary medical courses are too abstract and hard;many students can't realize the importance of the elementary courses;students are weak in leaning and lack necessary basic knowledge of these courses;the class hour is insufficient and the arrangement of these courses in different semesters is unreasonable;teachers in these courses are often too strict,boring,teacher-centered and indifferent to students' needs and reflections;profession and knowledge background of teachers in elementary courses often results in the disconnection between their teaching content and nursing.Suggestions for the problems above are put forward in the fourth chapter: improve social systems in assessment, employment and promotion to promote secondary vocational school graduates' social status;improve the doctor-patient relationship and distribution system to increase security and honor in nursing;improve home education to enhance students' faith in secondary vocational nursing;students should change their improper value, and make efforts to obtain a professional skill;students should learn to be not afraid of difficulties, and cultivate beneficial learning habits;students should learn to pay attention to learning rules, and realize the importance of elementary medical courses;schools should take advantage of their entrance education, and help their students cultivate passions in nursing and elementary medical courses;schools should attach importance to selection of counselors who can play an active role in education;schools should also have a serious control of the examinations in order to promote teaching effect of elementary courses;attach importance to the selection and training of teachers in elementary medical courses;put reforms in nursing courses and teaching into practice;teachers in elementary medical courses should learn more in educational psychology, try to care more about the students, renew teaching content, improve teaching methods, and make elementary medical courses attractive and joyful. With the methods mentioned above, secondary vocational nursing students will find more interest in elementary medical courses, and develop into a qualified nurse some day.
