Objective: Major depressive disorder is a common mental health problem of adolescents,characterized by high incidence,high recurrence rate and high disability rate,and it has obvious destructive effect on the quality of life,social function,growth and development of adolescents.Drug combined psychotherapy is a commonly used method in clinical practice.Therefore,this study attempts to explore the effects of balancing psychotherapy(BPT)combined with drug therapy on emotional status,cognition,and quality of life in adolescent patients with major depressive disorder,so as to verify the effectiveness of BPT.Methods: From December 2017 to August 2018,adolescents with major depressive disorder were recruited from the Psychology Department of Zhongda Hospital affiliated to Southeast University.The patients were divided into combined treatment group and control group.20 in the control group and 6 dropped out after 6 weeks.16 in the combined treatment group and 1 dropped out after 6 weeks.Subjects in the combined treatment group were received BPT in addition to psychiatric treatment of drugs.The intervention was implemented twice a week in the first two week(baseline)and once a week for the next four weeks,50 minutes each time,for a total of 8 times.Patients in control group were only given psychiatric treatment of drugs.Hamilton Depression Scale-17(HAMD-17),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ),Multidimensional-Multiattributional Causality Scale(MMCS),Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire(SF-36)were used to evaluate the effectiveness of BPT.Results:There was a significant difference between the combined treatment group and the control group in HAMD-17 scores after 6 weeks(t=-8.38,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in HAMD-17 scores in comparison with baseline and after 6 weeks of the combined treatment group(F=271.22,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in scores of HAMD-17 in comparison with baseline and after 6 weeks of the control group(F=75.79,P<0.001),and there was a significant difference between the combined treatment group and control group in the reduction rate of HAMD-17(t=8.64,P<0.001);There was a significant difference between the combined treatment group and the control group in HAMA scores after 6 weeks(t=-6.42,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in HAMA scores in comparison with baseline and after 6 weeks of the combined treatment group(F=131.13,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in scores of HAMA in comparison with baseline and after 6 weeks of the control group(F=94.61,P<0.001),and there was a significant difference between the combined treatment group and control group in the reduction rate of HAMA(t=7.89,P<0.001);There was a significant decrease in internal attribution of academic failure and external attribution of interpersonal failure scores in comparison with baseline and after 6 weeks of the combined treatment group(t=3.22,P<0.05;t=-2.36,P<0.05),and there was a significant increase in scores of external attribution of academic success in comparison with baseline and after 6 weeks of the control group(t=-2.25,P<0.05),and there was a significant difference between the combined treatment group and control group in the subtraction scores of internal attribution of academic failure and external attribution of academic success(t=-2.94,P<0.05;t=-2.36,P<0.05);There was a significant increase in scores of positive coping style and a significant decrease in negative coping style in comparison with baseline and after 6 weeks of the combined treatment group(t=-6.69,P<0.001;t=2.89,P<0.05),and there was a significant difference between the combined treatment group and control group in the subtraction scores of positive coping style and negative coping style(t=6.75,P<0.001;t=-2.36,P<0.05);There was a significant increase in scores of all dimensions of health status in comparison with baseline and after 6 weeks of the combined treatment group(t=-7.18~-2.16,P<0.05),and there was a significant increase in scores of role physical and health transition in comparison with baseline and after 6 weeks of the control group(t=-2.92,P<0.05;t=-2.80,P<0.05),and there was a significant difference between the combined treatment group and control group in the subtraction scores of bodily pain,general health,vitality,social function,role emotion,mental health,health transition(t=2.24~5.32,P<0.05).Conclusions:(1)Balancing psychotherapy can significantly improve the anxiety and depression,and improve the quality of life in adolescent patients with major depressive disorder.(2)Balancing psychotherapy can effectively improve the attributive and coping styles in adolescent patients with major depressive disorder.
