Objective: Utilizing the resilience in illness model(RIM),this study aimed to measure the resilience of young and middle-aged stroke patients and analyze its influencing factors to provide empirical evidence for clinically targeted improvement of patients’ resilience. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out in departments of neurology and recovery of a tertiary hospital in Anhui Province between August 2019 and December.A total of 222 young and middle-aged stroke patients were selected using a convenient sampling method.Data were collected with Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC-10),Family APGAR Index(APGAR),Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS),Mishel’s Uncertainty In Illness Scale-Adult(MUIS-A),Medical Coping Modes Questionaire(MCMQ)and Herth Hope Index(HHI).EXCEL software was used for data entry and SPSS 22.0 was used for data analysis.Differences in resilience of patients with different demographic and disease characteristics was compared by t-test or analysis of variance.Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between age, comorbidities and resilience.Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the dimensions of family care, social support,NIHSS score,m RS score and resilience.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between disease uncertainty, coping styles, hope and resilience.Hierarchical regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of resilience. Results: The mean score of 222 young and middle-aged stroke patients’ resilience was(28.34±8.36).The score of resilience of patients who were employed, had higher family income and lived with others were higher.Adaptation, partnership, growth, affection, resolve, family support, friend support, other support, avoidance, confrontation, hope were positively correlated with resilience(P<0.05).Uncertainty in illness and yielding were negatively correlated with resilience(P<0.05).Hierarchical regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of resilience. The result showed that when sociodemographic factors such as employed, family income entered the model,R2 was0.078;when family factors such as adaption and family support and individual risk factors such as avoidance and yielding entered the model,R2 increased 0.242;when individual protective factors such as confrontation and hope entered the model,R2 increased 0.054.Factors that eventually entered the model were adaptation and hope, explaining a total of 33.9% variation in resilience.Conclusions:(1)The resilience of young and middle-aged stroke patients is at a low level.(2)Adaptation and hope are the main influencing factors of resilience.(3)Family role should be evaluated early and role change needs to be assisted to complete to improve family functions by health care providers. At the same time, patients should be provided with professional knowledge guidance and help establish reasonable treatment and rehabilitation goals to improve the hope of patients.
