The name of the Monarch of Chu has a more detailed record in Zuo Zhuan and Historical Records.Its different texts are scattered in the historical books such as Mandarin,Warring State Policy,Shi Ben and The book of the Han Dynasty.In addition,there are some textual information related to the name of the Monarch of Chu.In recent years,inscription bronze wares material related to the name of the Monarch of Chu has gradually increased,drawing the academic community’s attention more and more.This paper attempts to collect inscription bronze wares material related to the names of the Monarch of Chu comprehensively and compared with the records of the handed down documents and combined with the latest achievements in the study of bronze staging and ancient Chinese characters in recent years,it tries hard to make a comprehensive and systematic arrangement of the names of the Monarch of Chu.At the same time,it also performs key analysis and study on the issues with more controversial,such as the identity of the owner,the age,and the interpretation of inscriptions,in order to promote the resolution of the relevant issues.The full paper is divided into four chapters,the main contents include the following aspects:First,there are tow groups of the bronze wares of the Monarch of Chu during the Western Zhou Dynasty,they are Jia bronzes of the duke of Chu state and Ni bronzes of the duke of Chu state.Jia bronze ware of Gong of Chu state,its owner may be Xiong Qu,the duke of Chu state in late period of Western Zhou Dynasty,his name is called “the duke of Chu state,Jia” in its own bronze wares,“Jia” for Xiong Qu the private name of the word,Chu Ju wrote Xiong Qu’s name as “ju”,“Qu” wrote in the history of Han Dynasty.Ni bronzes of the duke of Chu state,its owner may be Xiong E,the duke of Chu state between in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty and Western Zhou Dynasty,his name is called “the duke of Chu state,Ni” in its own bronze wares,Chu Ju wrote Xiong Qu’s name as “E”,In the Warring States Period,Chu’s bamboo slips wrote Xiong E’s name as “E”,The “E” in the literature of Han Dynasty is also used as “E”,“E” and“E”.Second,analysis of Monarch of Chu state’s namess as seen in the bronze inscriptions in the Spring and Autumn Period.Ling bronze ware of king of Chu state,its owner may be Duao Xiongjian,king of Chu state in the early Spring and Autumn Period;Xiong Shen bronze ware of king of Chu state,its owner may be may be Xiong Shen,Duke Gong of Chu state in the mid-Spring and Autumn Period;Zhao bronze ware of king of Chu state,its owner may be Zhao,Kang king of Chu state in middle and late Spring and Autumn Period;Yan Qiu bronze ware of king of Chu state,its owner may be Ju,Chuping king of Chu state in late Spring and Autumn Period.Third,analysis of Monarch of Chu state’s names as seen in the bronze inscriptions in the Warring States period.Xiong Zhang bronze ware of king of Chu state,its owner may be Xiong Zhang,Hui king of Chu state in the early Warring States period;Xiong Qian bronze ware of king of Chu state,its owner may be Xiong Yuan,Kao Lie king of Chu state in the late Warring States period;Xiong Han bronze ware of king of Chu state,its owner may be Xiong Han,You king of Chu state in the late Warring States period.Fourth,The non-Chujun bronzes Inscription Sees the Name of the Monarch of Chu.The "Chu Wang Xiong Fan" seen by the Inga inscription may be Chu Xiangong Xiong Sheng.His name is known as "Chu Xiong Xiong Fan" in the bronze inscriptions of the late Spring and Autumn Period."Fan" is the character of Xiong Shengming.The works of the Han dynasty were used as "pan" and later "pan" as "Sheng".The bronze bell of Chu Ji seeing "Gong" may also be Chu Xiangong Xiong Sheng.By combing and examining the differences between the names of the monarch of Chu in unearthed and handed down documents,it is found that the reasons for these differences can be divided into five categories.The first category is the replacement of false characters,such as "Jia" and "Ju" and "Qu" of the Chugong Xiong Qu.The Second category is Renamed after inheriting the throne,such as Prince Wai,renamed after the throne of "Qian".The third category is the typos produced by the similarity of the glyphs in the writing process,such as Chu Xiangong Xiong Sheng’s "Pan" falsely as "Sheng".The fourth category is sub-parent Differentiated word relationship,such as the name of the Hui King of Chu "Zhang" and "Zhang".Among the five types of reasons for the occurrence of different texts,the replacement of the passphrases in the process of copying the ancient books is dominant,ie,the number of names changed from place to place is less than the number of places.There are very few synonymous substitutions and differentiations.Therefore,the handed down literature is about the name of Chu Jun.The record is still relatively credible.
