As China’s foreign exchanges become more and more frequent,more and more political essays need to be translated into Chinese.Compared with other types of translation,Political essays generally serve as important and official channels,the translation of political essays need to stand clearly,logically and precisely.The author selected contents extracted from the former three chapters of Pelle Neroth Taylor’s book Brexit: European Union,American Empire to accomplish the report.Therefore,the report aims to analyze and translate the book from the perspective of Newmark’s Textual Functional Theory to pinpoint common difficulties,notices and tactics in the translation of political essays.Brexit is a world major event in 2017,Brexit: European Union,American Empire is a political book that introduces the Brexit.Brexit: European Union,American Empire is indispensable to politics,for both the reasons of Brexit and the attitudes of U.S.and EU are mentioned.Through reading the Brexit: European Union,American Empire,readers can broaden their horizons,and keep track of the international situations,so the author selected this book to accomplish the report.The author translate and analysis this book under the guidance of Newmark’s Textual Functional theory,from which three are chosen in this thesis.Therefore,the report aims to analyze the translation deeply from the perspectives of expressive function,information function,and vocative function and analyzes how to employ such theory to resolve the problems.Besides,the report briefly introduces the background of the book and describes the translation methods.It demonstrates that Newmark’s textual function theory is instructive for the translation of political essays.It finds out some common problems by analyzing the cases,then analyzes the reasons and try to solve these problems.The report may provide insights for related texts or materials,...
