The material of this translation report is from chapter two ―Everyday Violence‖ of Clive R.Hollin’s book,The Psychology of Interpersonal Violence.As one of the most common types of interpersonal violence,everyday violence,including school bullying,workshop bullying and cyberbullying,can be easily seen in our daily life.Knowing the reasons and acts of this violence can give us a good guidance of dealing and preventing with it in our daily life.As a book in the field of psychology,the language style of The Psychology of Interpersonal Violence is formal and serious,with accurate words and lots of technical terms.In the process of translating,the translator mainly adopted the method of ―literal translation,supplemented by free translation‖,with some translation techniques like addition,omission,conversion and word diction to ensure the accuracy and fluency of the translating,trying to make it faithful to both the original and target text.This translation report consists of four parts.The first part is task description,mainly introducing the source of translation material,background and meaning of the selected material,the author and the book.The second part is translation procedures which conclude pre-translation,problems in translation and the text finalization.The third part is case analysis,including analysis of cases from the level of lexicon,syntax and discourse.The fourth part is a summary of the whole report,which is the translator’s experience and feelings in this translation process.
