| Writing is considered as an important part of foreign language learning because it can reflect students’ language competence.For college students,English writing ability is closely related to their future career.However,it proves to be difficult for them to learn English and gradually they lose confidence on writing even English learning.College English teachers encounter the main problem about the separation of language learning and using when they use traditional teaching method in practical classroom teaching.Therefore,many scholars and teachers try to improve classroom teaching effects and promote the reform of college English teaching based on production-oriented approach proposed by Wen Qiufang in 2014.According to previous studies,the study aims to testify the effects of college students’ English writing performance and demonstrate the changes of students’ perceptions of writing under the guidance of production-oriented approach.In other words,it discusses whether the new teaching approach is feasible in college English writing teaching.During the one-term teaching experiment,60 sophomore non-English majors from two parallel classes in the same university are chosen as experimental subjects.One is experimental class which receives writing teaching on the basis of production-oriented approach,while the other class called control class is taught by traditional writing teaching method.The research instruments consist of pre-test,post-test,questionnaire,and interview.The collected data is analyzed by using SPSS 17.0 software in order to solve research questions.The study illustrates that production-oriented approach is effective for students on writing teaching.The students who are in experimental class have more obvious improvements than those in control class on writing post-test.Meanwhile,students’ perceptions of writing has changed a lot after the teaching experiment.To some extent,they have positive perceptions of writing with the help of production-oriented approach.In general,the new teaching approach can enhance students’ productive ability and teaching quality of college writing.The study also provides some pedagogical implications and suggestions for college English teaching. |
