| This is a consecutive interpreting practice report on the interview “Chinese and Australian Graduate Education”.This report analyzes the cases of information loss appeared in the process of interpreting,focusing on the causes of this problem and proposing some solutions to reduce information loss.Firstly,a brief introduction of the task and the main work that the interpreter did for the preparation as well as her on-site performance are described.Secondly,the causes and solutions for information loss are analyzed on the basis of the author’s own performance.Externally,logic of delivery,density of the source text and cultural specific expressions negatively affect information extraction.Internally,interpreter’s nervous psychological states and unreasonable allocation of attention sources are also responsible for information loss.Finally,this report proposes some strategies to improve information extraction,such as rearranging illogical information,reducing redundant information and also some strategies for interpreter to make self adjustment in order to avoid information loss.This analysis unavoidably has some limitations,only focusing on information loss,neglecting some other problems such as misinterpreting and incoherence.Though with some limitation,this report aims to provide some experience for the future similar interpreting work. |
