The Theory Of Tang Jifu’s University Narrative Novel

Tang Jifu’s creation began in 1961.Since the publication of The Story of Old Shibuya,he has attracted the attention of the literary world.In the late 1980 s,he began to transfer to university narrative writing.His career of more than 30 years,the development of the university and the fate of intellectuals have always changed.It is the key theme and spiritual core throughout its creation.This dissertation mainly uses Tang Jifu’s university narrative novels as an example to analyze the development of universities during the transition period and commodity economy period.The introduction part is mainly to review the evolution of university narrative,introduce the research status of Tang Jifu’s creation,and further demonstrate the creative value of his university narrative.The other three chapters mainly describe the difficult development of the university during the transition period,the chaotic development in the era of commodity economy,and the value and limitations of the narrative creation of the Tang Jifu University.During the transition period,various kinds of ideological and cultural shocks,knowledge is facing a crisis of devaluation,the social status of intellectuals has declined,and they have moved from the social center to the marginal position.The phenomenon of “brain collapse” in society has caused the income of intellectuals to decline and their living standards to decline.The material life falls into poverty.The state places emphasis on economic development and has not paid enough attention to education.The development of the university is in a difficult position.In the commodity economy era,under the stimulation of the wave of consumerism in the market,there was a division within the intellectual population.Some intellectuals,under the temptation of money and material desires,abandon the conscience of intellectuals,indulge their own desires,and enter the world of secular society.However,there are still some intellectuals who scrupulously abide by the conscience of scholars and consciously resist the temptation of the world.Tang Jifu paid attention to some issues that the university has encountered in the era of commodity economy: Regardless of its own actual situation,it has competed to expand the scale of its colleges and universities,expand its enrollment of students,and neglected its teaching and educating people.From the point of view of the “business-based” and “government-based” scholarship,academic power,and administrative power,it analyzes a series of university disparities such as expansion of material desire,trading of power and money,and proliferation of academic bubbles.Tang Jifu has always been deeply concerned about the destiny of intellectuals in different times,especially the spiritual confusion of intellectuals’ whereabouts in the social environment in which the times are transformed,and the spiritual variation of intellectuals in the era of commodity economy.As a scholar-type writer who adheres to the conscience of intellectuals and serves the frontline of education,Tang Jifu University narration has great artistic value in terms of literary criticism,narrative perspective,and character modeling.However,in the meantime,his university narrative creation also has the limitations of one-way criticism of the market,as well as the shortcomings such as the lack of future prospects for the proposed issues.
