Research On Application Of Cooperative Learning In Teaching English Writing In Secondary Vocational School

Cooperative learning method was originated in the USA,which was gradually applied in many countries since the 1970s.It’s based on cooperative learning groups and dynamic interactions between members,which promotes students to learn to achieve the common objectives.Cooperative learning has been studied in our country for many years,which has achieved certain results.It’s praised by many teachers from primary and middle schools.But it still has been less used in secondary vocational schools,where English teaching is facing many difficulties,such as not enough attention,students’ poor English foundation,lack of initiative and confidence and so on.English writing,in particular,has frightened many students.The author thinks,the research on cooperative learning in English writing teaching of secondary vocational schools has a great significance in such background.The subjects of this study are students in Class 3 and 4,Grade one,of Fuzhou Finance Vocational Secondary School,whose majors are accounting.Questionnaires and tests are used as research tools.The thesis mainly studies the following two problems:(1)What’s the effect of cooperative learning on improving students’ attitude to English writing?(2)What’s the effect of cooperative learning on students’ English writing performance?According to the results,cooperative learning has been accepted by most students,which makes them no longer isolated,eliminates negative emotions,and changes their attitudes towards English writing.Meanwhile,group cooperation provides a communication platform,where they can get necessary guidance timely in times of difficulties,and get writing skills effectively,so that their English writing performance can be enhanced.This paper also provides some implications:(1)Cooperative learning can improve the comprehensive level of English.(2)Cooperative learning can enhance the teamwork awareness and skills of secondary vocational students.Although cooperative learning has many advantages,it has its own limitations,such as the influence of time,space and objects and uncertainties during cooperating.In addition,the research design and process is difficult to avoid the limitations of the author’s knowledge and objective conditions.Therefore,the research inevitably has some shortcomings.Some specific suggestions are given on the problems in the experiment,which can be of some help to the researchers on this subject.
