| Group cooperative learning is a creative strategy and theory. It not only involves students studying together in the classroom on a project, but also requires teachers to structure positive cooperative interdependence among the students during grouping.Furthermore, the role of the teacher changes from providing knowledge to facilitating students’ self-regulated learning in the process. It is true that in our country,English plays a very important role in education.Almost all the students and teachers focus on listening, speaking, reading and writing, but only a few would have thought that translation is also a noticeable part in English teaching and learning. There are many studies about translation, but very few people concern about vocational school students’ problems. As the specificity of vocational school students, most of them become part of the working society right after graduation and have to deal with clients. Thus translation trainings are quite important and urgent. Many students cannot speak English fluently and get low or moderate marks for composition,as much of the scarce ability of translating. So this research aims to improve students’ translation performance. It is necessary to develop an alternative teaching approach for translation teachers. The researcher intends to design a cooperative translation task to meet teachers’ and students’ needs. This study is carried out in***Vocational School and lasts for 12 weeks. There are 78 students from two accounting major classes take part in the experiment.Questions are asked in the whole research process:1.Can group cooperative learning improve students’ interest in learning English?2.Can group cooperative learning improve students’ translation performance? The data of the study is from two tests and one questionnaire. Its aim is to obtain information regarding their general notions on teamwork during training of their translation studies. Before the experiment, there is no significant difference in academic achievements between the two classes. After the experiment, students in the experimental class show greater interest in learning English.Their test scores are also pointed higher than that of the control class. So it suggests that group cooperative learning helps students improve their translation performance and interest in learning English. |
