Hermeneutics could offer an essential methodology for the display of translator's subjectivity in translation process.George Steiner combined hermeneutics with translation theory and formed the system of hermeneutic translation theory, and put forward the well-known Fourfold Translation Motion Theory:trust, aggression, incorporation, compensation.Trust means the translator believes the text is meaningful and worthwhile of translation at first place.Aggression, the translator's comprehension of the source text.Incorporation indicates the translator expresses his comprehension with the target language, making it plain and popular. Both aggression and incorporation will unbalance the translation, and the last move compensation will restore the balance.Wuthering Heights written by Emily Bronte, one of the famous English female writers from Three Sisters of Bronte,is one of representative works of English literature in 19th century. In total, there are 31 Chinese versions of Wuthering Heights in the world from 1980 to 2011.In 1986,Fang Ping's Chinese version was published in Shanghai Translation Publishing House. With easy and smooth translation, and charming and witty style,it won many compliments from foreign language circle and foreign language circle teaching in China, which was deemed to be the best version and an excellent model of others. With the graceful bearing of a grand master, some paragraphs of the version are even much better than Emily's original text, and it is described as the best translation comparing favorably with the source text. From the aspect of George Steiner's Fourfold Translation Motion Theory, and taking Fang Ping's Chinese version of Wuthering Heights for an example, the author endeavors to explore and analyze the translator's subjectivity during the translation process through comparing the source text to the translated text, meanwhile,to demonstrate that the translator's subjectivity is at work throughout the translation process and exert that translator's subjectivity is one of the essential factor to the translation effect. In the process of trust,it verified translator's subjectivity from translator's own linguistic and cultural competences to the valuation of the original text;In the aggression, out of the translator's culture awareness and religious awareness; In the incorporation, consisting of incorporation of meaning and form;In the compensation, mainly including direct compensation by annotation and indirect compensation within sentences.Based upon the above analysis,we can arrive a conclusion that translator's subjectivity is the most important factors during translation process.Meanwhile, the translator should exerts his subjectivity thoroughly in the process, and that is the key to be warmly welcomed by readers. Therefore, the author gained three aspects of enlightenment:firstly, the translator's subjectivity runs through the whole translation process;secondly, the translator's subjectivity has an essential effect on translation text;thirdly, the translator's subjectivity is characterized with generative and open nature.
