Rhetorical devices play important roles in literary works and they are indispensable parts in literary works.The application of rhetorical devices can enhance the expression effects,and then highlight the content of the article.Therefore,the translation of rhetorical devices should be paid more attention in the translation of literary works.Under the theory of functional equivalence,this report studies the rhetorical devices translation in the prose As Long as You Are Here(Ni de Gu Du,Sui Bai You Rong).Some related methods and strategies of rhetorical devices translation are provided,aiming at functional equivalence to an utmost extent,and finally meeting the demands of target readers.This report includes four chapters.The first chapter is literature review,where the author makes a brief introduction to the functional equivalence theory and the theoretical application in the rhetorical devices translation.The second chapter introduces the source text from three aspects,including the author,the ideological content and the literary features of the source text.The third chapter describes the translation procedure,which includes preparation,translation process and proofreading.In the fourth chapter,the author studies the rhetorical devices from six aspects: the translation of similes,the translation of metaphors,the translation of personifications,the translation of exaggerations,the translation of anadiploses,and the translation of parallelisms.Chinese-English translation is more difficult than English-Chinese translation,and the rhetorical devices translation is particularly difficult.Some problems and relevant strategies about rhetorical devices translation are pointed out,which will help other translators avoid these problems and enrich the content of relevant research.
