The New Version Of Collating Tenrei Bansho Meigi

Tenrei bansho meigi is a dictionary written by a Japanese eminent monk Kukai in Heian era in light of an ancient Chinese wordbook Yu Pian written by Gu Yewang in Liang state.As an independent dictionary which keeps its contents intact,Meigi has its own academic advantage : given that the original Yu Pian was already lost,Meigi has become a most valuable script for us to take a glimps at the whole frame and content of it.And as it contains the character styles,phonics features,classic Chinese meanings,complete content,philology proof all the way from Northen and Southern Dynasties to Tang Dynasty,also benefit the study of the relevant fileds.However,being written by foreign scholar in the Middle Age,the ancient characters are very much different from today’s.Due to the transcription through many hands over the time,many discrepancies of the document have cropped up,exacerbating the challenges to read and research and therefore needs urgent compiling.The collations and explanations of Tenrei bansho meigi by Lv Hao is the first contemporary collated script for the falicitation for the scholars to study Meigi.Though it bears some reference value,many discrepancies and left problems have greatly devalued this book.As such,this thesis is about the collation of Meigi on the basis of the collated version of Lv and the relevant studies.By doing this,not only the discrepancies of the Lv version could be corrected and explained but also the reexploration,research and explanation about Meigi could be done.Therefore,the correct content,compilation style and purpose of Meigi could be opened to the public.This thesis will be divided into two parts.The first part will be the general statement about the author,version,preceded studies and the Lv version of Meigi,as well as the collation explanation and some thoughts of myself about Meigi.The second part will represent the collation details and full listed items for any parts that are mis-collated or lost or anywhere that conduces to explain the relevant problems of Mingyi after my in-depth read and comparison.All the parts will be given concrete statements and explanations in accordance with relevant materials.Anything else beyond my knowledge could only be left behind.
