A Practice Report On The Simultaneous Interpreting At 2017silicon Valley Innovation Entrepreneurship Forum (Xi’an)

This report is based on the interpreter’s practice at Silicon Valley Innovation Entrepreneurship Forum in Xi’an where the author provided simultaneous interpreting.This report focuses on the failures encountered by the author and coping strategies of each failures.During the process of interpreting,it was found that the effort saturation,where run-on sentences came up,led to failures in the target language production.After the forum,by analyzing transcript of the interpreting,the author found the causes of the problems involving failures in determining the subject,grasping the logic and dealing with information redundancy of run-on sentences.After analyzing the features of run-on sentence and under the guidance of Gile’s Effort Model and the principle of syntactic linearity,the author puts forward coping strategies including identifying the subject,the use of logic and simplification,so as to improve the quality of the interpretation.
