Research On The Relationships Among Minorities College Students’ Parenting Style,Humor Style And Mental Health

Health has been one of the greatest expectations of mankind since ancient times,and it is also one of the goals that people are constantly pursuing.With the continuous development of society,people’s living standard has been continuously improved and people’s awareness of health has become stronger.Health has been more than physical innocence,but more importantly mental health.Mental health has gradually become one of the indicators to measure the overall quality of a nation.Ethnic minority college students are an important part of college student groups,and meanwhile being the special group,their mental health has begun to be payed attention to.Whether they can grow up physically and mentally is also related to the unity and prosperity of a nation as well as its stability and prosperity.In order to explore the relationships among humor style and parental rearing styles and mental health,this study treated 530 ethnic minority college students and 425 Han college students from Guangxi as the survey subjects,adopted the Parental Bonding Instrument(PBI)and Chen Guohai,which were revised by Chiang Kai-shek and others.The Humor Style Questionnaire(HSQ)and the General Health Questionnaire(GHQ-20)revised by Li Hong et al,analyzed the basic characteristics of parenting styles,humor style,and mental health of ethnic minority college students,and explored the partial mediating role played by humor style of ethnic minority college students in parental rearing styles and mental health.The following conclusions have been come to:(1)The parenting style of ethnic minority students is generally positive.And the father and mother’s rearing style have significant differences in whether they are only children,and in profession.The humor style of ethnic minority college students is overall active.In humorous style,some factors have significant gender differences;significant difference in whether they are only children,and differences in profession.Factors in minority college students’ mental health are significantly different in gender and in profession.(2)The parenting style,humor style,and mental health of ethnic minority college students are closely related.Affinity and self-improvement humor factors have a positive correlation with mental health in humorous style;humorous style negatively correlates with taunting and self-demotional humor factors and mental health level.Parental rearing methods have positive correlations between caring factors and autonomy factors and mental health.Parental rearing methods have a significant negative correlation between indifference/rejection factors and overprotective factors and mental health.(3)There is no significant differences in parental rearing styles and humor style between ethnic minority students and Han students,but there are significant differences in the depressive factors of mental health.The scores of depression factors of ethnic minority college students are significantly higher than those of Han college students.(4)Autonomous factors in the parental rearing style of ethnic minority college students have a positively predictive effect on mental health.The positively predictive effect of the caring factors in the mother’s parenting style on the level of mental health is significant.And so parental rearing styles and humor styles affect the mental health of minority students.
