| The weave element has a long history,but was not involved in the work of art until the late twentieth century.In the 1980 s,Varbanov Fiber Art Research Centre,found by The China Academy of Art,produced a breakthrough in pure plane art language and art form.Today’s art is based on contemporary issues,integrating material and personal experience with reality.With the continuous development of science and technology and the continuous introduction of new things,the soil of China has produced many contemporary works of art using unique combinations of various weave elements and Chinese traditional culture,as well as artists with unique Chinese contexts.In this article,the expression of “Rigidity and Flexibility” based on weave elements is used to explore some of the current status quo existing in contemporary Chinese art.The definitions of weave element and “Rigidity and Flexibility” are given in this paper and four special connotations of “Rigidity and Flexibility” are also proposed.The theme and background of the artist’s creation is analyzed in this paper.It also summarizes the individuality and commonality of artists’ works,working methods and working logic in different stages of contemporary art.At the same time,this paper starts from the case study of Liang Shaoji,a contemporary and representative contemporary artist,analyzes his representative works on fabric elements,and studies the concept of “Rigidity and Flexibility” about weave elements to participate in the China contemporary art background and creative ideas,from which we should reflect on how to practice into their own artistic creation.Through research,this paper can make readers rethink the inner relationship between material and media and the content of the works.The material is of course important,but if we start from the material alone and grasp the material,we must receive a variety of limitations in the form of art.Therefore,from material to concept is not only a process from figurative to abstract,but also an inevitable trend of contemporary art development.From a theoretical point of view,this study hopes to analyze the use of “Rigidity and Flexibility” of weave elements in painting through the case of Liang Shaoji,a contemporary Chinese work of art and artist,to help us understand the new art more deeply at the theoretical level,to enrich our theoretical basis.From a practical point of view,this paper can further let us recognize the artist’s methodology of creation,at the same time sort out our creative ideas and logic,and provide new possibilities for the artist’s continuous creation.For the young art creators,these researches provide us with new ideas on how we combine our own experience of existence and integrate the cultural context into the artistic creation instead of the blind pursuit of the trend of development. |
