Flexible Rigidity

In the modern society that combines consumer context,the body has become an important carrier of expressing self-identity.Research on the relationship between the body and consumption has emerged.However,in previous research perspectives,consumers who engage in body consumption were seen as lacking subject consciousness and being dominated by consumerism culture and micro power,resulting in body consumption behavior.In response,different scholars have attempted to explore the subjectivity of consumers in the field of body consumption from the perspective of body research,but there are still some shortcomings,mainly focused on the following two points: first,the consumption and practice process of body consumers have not been presented as important analysis content;second,subjective experiences and feelings of individuals have been emphasized as the main discussion content,highlighting the diversity of the body but neglecting its existence as a uniform entity.Based on the current research status,this article combines the research progress of folklore on the coherence and rationality of ordinary people’s lives,and attempts to supplement the shortcomings of the above research by taking individual bodybuilding practices in the field of consumption as an example.Specifically,this article first discusses the differences presented by the uniform body exercise rules and the diversity of individual experiences and feelings in the daily practice of bodybuilding enthusiasts in terms of bodybuilding diet and bodybuilding knowledge.Then,this article attempts to discuss the interaction between the body and consumption beyond the perspective of efficient consumption,by combining the time spent on bodybuilding and social interaction during bodybuilding practices.This article draws the following conclusions:in the process of body consumption,actors do face conflicts and collisions between uniform bodybuilding rules and diverse individual experiences,but they can rely on their own life experiences and learning skills to balance the pursuit of uniform rules and diverse autonomous practices,forming a coherent life culture.Body consumption,as a form of consumption,certainly has efficiency characteristics,but in the long term,the efficiency characteristics of body consumption will give way to non-efficiency characteristics.Body consumption driven by efficiency principles will cause a certain degree of dysfunction,and the consumption process of time spent and equal social interaction will become another important trend of body consumption.In this process of transformation,the cultural lives of ordinary people will be further rationalized.As a physical practice,bodybuilding is indeed an attempt to seek a combination of physical and mental strength,with this strength implying a pursuit of unified principles and efficiency.However,various practical experiences of bodybuilding enthusiasts will gradually highlight their subjectivity,challenging the above attempt,and adding a new modifier to "strength" : "flexibility."...
