A Study On The Folk Narration In Mo Yan's Novels

Mo Yan is famous in the mid-eighty's,and his rich literary work and unique language has created the regional concept of “northeast township”.Academic circle meant to explore the meaning in the narrative and language aspect,besides in the pursuit of the vitality of his work.However,folk words with local color became new “key words” instead of “post-modern”and “modernity” since 1990 s.In this situation,Mo Yan began his first shot,and he showed his writing.The world in his literary work is positive without any limit,and the construction of his folk world is related to the real world.The folk culture and the consciousness of the folk problems are worth studying.In today's society,“people-oriented”concept became popular,but there is no a real value and a kind of the folk spirit.The essence of life is not to pursue the eternal and material,but to set off a wave of life and realize self-value.Therefore,Mo Yan had responsibility and consciousness in his literary work.With Mo Yan's folk narration as the point,this paper can be divided into five parts.The introduction part mainly talks from the aspects of life consciousness,narrative,language features,folk writing and research questions.The first chapter deals with the reconstruction of folk tradition expressions.First,Mo Yan tried to rebuild the folk expressions in no matter the “sandalwood punishment” or in other work.Second,Mo Yan innovated the narration of traditional village by means of magical realism and narrative carnival.The second chapter explores the consciousness in Mo Yan's novels.In the eighty's,various issues emerged,and various social problems appeared.Mo Yan was looking for the social problems,combining his work and the folk world.Researchers can find the evidence in “the song of heaven young garlic ”,“thirteen steps”,“wine country',and “buxom”.He always adhered himself to the criticism to the strong and the sympathy to the weak all the time.From the early eighty's “groping forward” to the mid-80s' “rational egoism”showed a strong consciousness of folk problem,village civilization and reality issues.The third chapter is to dig out the life values under the market economy through the life theme.The core emotion in Mo Yan's work includes the praising for folk life strength,the praising for folk spirit,the pursuit of spiritual freedom.The image of characters and typical stories in his work have strong emotions.The conclusion part mainly summarizes the thesis.From his folk standpoint,he reflects his anxiety about the existence of folk life,worries about the future of people,and always explores the way out.His work is focus on the human nature,human existence and spiritual conversion,and he leads the readers to reflect themselves,showing his strong humanistic concern and ideological implication.
