The characteristic of World Literature and Poetry Periodical in 1980 s as a whole is twofold: introducing poetry in a more diversified fashion and ushering in a refreshing era and reconnecting with the world, which is demonstrated by the urge to translate poetry of Nobel laureates.Neruda,Elytis,Jorge Luis Borges and Milosz as poets from the third-world have influenced Chinese poets tremendously in terms of the style and subjectivity of Chinese New Poetry.Using the fundamental methodology of cultural analysis, such as post-colonialism,and the theory of poly-system,I delve into the relationship between Chinese New Poetry and the Chinese translation of the third-world poetry while pondering the transition of political agenda in China, the differentiation of power in translation and the resources of Chinese New Poetry.I pay attention, especially,to the rather unflattering reception of the third-world countries' translated poetry in China and the factors behind the scenes and the future influence of this type of literature in China. In a nutshell,third-world poetry has enriched Chinese literary system, some excellent poems even directly goaded native poet to create fine literary works.Besides, sharing the same historical fate,third-world poetry is a mirror for Chinese New Poetry to reflect on,and thus gaining a parallel vision in erecting national subjectivity and in imagining the outlook of Chinese New Poetry.
