| With the increasing international academic exchange,China has made great progress in the translation of academic works,and a large number of academic monographs have been introduced.Under this circumstance,the translation of academic papers has gradually developed which has injected new vitality into the research of related fields.However,according to the CNKI database,most of the translation of academic papers in China is mainly concentrated on the translation of abstracts and titles,while less attention is paid to the translation of the whole text.There are relatively few studies on the translation of excellent papers from abroad.It is well known that academic papers play an important role in knowing the trends of international academic research,realizing the communication and interaction between academic circles both at home and abroad,and enhancing our academic research ability.Therefore,it is necessary to translate excellent papers from foreign countries,especially in those fields that are not perfect at home.This report takes the Bourdieu and “Literacy Education” as the research object which is selected from the forth chapter of Pierre Bourdieu and Literacy Education co-edited by James Albright and Allan Luke.The author of the source text is Monica Heller who is a Canadian anthropologist,and in this paper,she mainly describes the application of Bourdieu’s sociological theories in the field of education.The writing of this academic paper is mainly composed of two characteristics.One is the strong professionalism which reflects in a lot of sociological terms and famous scholars’ quotations are cited.Another is excellent logic reflecting in the use of long sentences.Based on the characteristics of such academic papers in text and language,the translator adopts some translation strategies to analyze how to translate proper nouns and long sentences.When translating names,the main strategiesadopted are using the existing translation and transliteration.Parallel text extraction and annotation are used in translating sociological terms.The main strategies adopted in the translation of long sentences include linear translation,segmentation and reconstructing. |
