Motivation and anxiety are integral parts of affective factors,which have directly or indirectly influence on learning effect.Through the application of modern technology,flipped classroom model is expected to stimulate students' learning enthusiasm and reduce their learning anxiety,so as to improve the learning effect.However,the specific implementation effect of flipped classroom model in college English teaching is still in exploratory stage.In the present study,both quantitative and qualitative research methods are applied.The research tools include questionnaires,tests and interviews.This study takes two non-English majors from two classes of Grade 2017 in Dalian Minzu University as subjects to investigate the following questions:(1)What effect does flipped classroom exert on English learning performance?(2)What effect does flipped classroom exert on English learning motivation and learning anxiety? What are the specific affecting factors?(3)Compared with traditional classroom,is flipped classroom more conducive to enhancing the English learning effect of college students?It is found that the English test scores of the experimental class are higher than those of the control class.According to the questionnaire,the integrated motivation and motivation intensity of the experimental group are enhanced and their anxiety has decreased significantly.This shows that compared with the traditional teaching model,the learning effect of flipped classroom model is better.Through interviews,five affecting factors are concluded: the use of information technology,cooperative learning,students' individual factors,teacher's individual factors and the design of teaching activities.This study confirm that flipped classroom model can effectively stimulate the motivation of English learners,and thus improve the learning and teaching effects of college English,which provides scientific data for the feasibility of flipped classroom model and enriches the research results in this field.
