The Second Piano Sonata is one of the Three Piano Sonatas written by German composer Hindemith in 1936 during the neoclassical period. This work is different from the traditional Sonata in the form of structure arrangement, the creation of Scherzo, pastoral and Rondo,so that the music genre can be rich. There is no doubt that this is a work with the style of neoclassicism, showing the composer's unique style of "returning to the past" in his creation.Hindemith combines the polyphonic music style of Baroque period with his own composing technique theory, which makes this syncretic work more interesting. The paper is mainly divided into three chapters, starting with the introduction of composers and their creation,to analyze and summarize the music noumenon and performance skills of the works: through the use of literature and induction, starting from Hindemith's life, writing style and background of the works,to summarize the composers and their works;by the use of analysis and other research methods, from the structure of music, melody, texture, harmony features in the four aspects of color, this paper analyzes the music noumenon of Hindemith's Piano Sonata No.2,and makes a detailed study and analysis of the piano playing skills involved in the work, such as staccato, legato, fast running, octave, polyphonic timbre and pedal.Through the above research, the performer can better understand and grasp the Second Piano Sonata, and do a little to understand the music works of Hindemith in the neoclassical period.
