A Study On The Translation And Interpretation Of Enlish Words In Teaching Chinese As A Foreign Language

Textbooks are the one of basic learning tools used by learners.The quality of textbooks will directly affect learners’ learning effect.This also applies to the field of Teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The translation and interpretation of new words is one of the important components of the textbooks for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Appropriate translation and interpretation of new words can help learners to understand and use new words greatly;otherwise it will cause unnecessary misunderstandings.Taking the primary series of Developing Chinese as an example,this thesis comprehensively uses the literature research method,comparative analysis method and statistical introduction method to integrate and analyze the new words in the teaching materials in order to explore the contained laws.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this thesis is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is to give a brief overview of the new words’ English translation of primary series of Chinese textbooks from the perspectives of number,location as well as the English translation’s content,form and method.The second chapter discusses the evaluation system of English translation of Chinese new words in the textbook,including the English translation’s purpose,principle,evaluation process and tools.The third chapter analyzes the English translation problems in the teaching materials from semantics,grammar,pragmatics and special parts of speech,and gives the correct interpretation form to the utmost extent.The fourth chapter gives corresponding suggestions through the previous research on the three aspects of increasing other methods of translation,improving the quality of the translator and the quality of the examination,and extensively learning from the excellent Chinese textbooks at home and abroad are put forward.I hope that it can be used as a reference or have the reference value for the preparation of the later translation of the Chinese words in the reprinting of Developing Chinese and other Chinese textbooks.
