Semantic Analysis And Cultural Explanation Of The Chinese Character "Shou"

This article focuses on the Chinese character "Shou",and "Shou" culture.Firstly,parameters are summarized according to the meaning of "Shou" character;this article sums up all parameters into ten items,and on the basis of semantic field for birthday,funeral and other language,it analysis the formation of "Shou" as well as the pursuit for longevity of Chinese people.Secondly,this thesis discusses the folk custom in the Longevity Culture and literature in the "Song Shou" culture as well as appreciate both elegance and popular Longevity Culture.In the aspect of folk culture,this article analyzed the culture of "Shou Mian" and "Shou Jiu" which include.The images of God and Goddess of Longevity and their origins.Chinese traditional virtues of respect for the elder,season-based health wisdom reflected in the Double Nine Festival,mid-autumn.In the aspect of longevity praise,this article analyzed the praise words for longevity during Song Dynasty such as praise words from relatives,friends,the elder person himself and praise words for official use.Finally,the author carries out a questionnaire on the teaching of "Shou" character-related culture and the formation of "Shou",thus gives advice on the international teaching of "Shou" culture.
