A mind map is a visualization tool of radioactive thinking.After being introduced into the area of education,it plays an important role in the education teaching process.However,it has not been applied in the English teaching of senior year at my school.At present,teachers and students in senior year are confronted with a number of English words,more complex syntactic knowledge,and both original and vivid reading materials and the diversification of writing style,which mean a lot of new challenges to them.To meet these challenges,the mind map is of great help as it is visual so that it can help organize English knowledge of reading and writing effectively,make teachers have a good command of the inner relations among English,grasp the overall structure of knowledge,promote the understanding and application of reading and writing,as well as words and grammar.It has become an important tool to improve students’ learning efficiency in senior year in high school.This study first gives a review to the studies on the mind map at home and abroad and then presents its application to high school English teaching.According to the mind map and the theory of instructional design,this thesis presents the model of high school English teaching design according to the mind map.At the stage of teaching design,with the analysis of teaching aim and content,the author puts forward the method of English teaching in words,grammar,reading and writing by using the mind map.With regard to specific teaching activities,the author comes up with three steps for teaching strategies,including preparation before class(foundation of a mind map),class interaction(the communication of a mind map),and after-school reflection(the rearrangement of a mind map).On this basis,the author did experiments in her classes and explored the positive effect of mind map in the process of senior high school English teaching through classroom observation,interviews with teachers and after-class investigation with students.From the research,it is of great help to develop the students’ learning interest,improve their understanding of learning points in English,and help them master English well in terms of its overall structure.This research demonstrates that the application to the mind map can help achieve better effect in the teaching of vocabulary,grammar,reading and writing in senior year in high school.It can also be a good assistant to the English teacher,arouse students’interest in learning English and help them take the initiative in learning.Thus,it will finally raise their review efficiency in senior year in high school.
