As a new subject,teaching Chinese as a second language has made a huge progress.However,Chinese character teaching has always been a great endeavor in the teaching process.The characteristics of Chinese characters and the lack of efficient teaching methods,consequently,have become the bottleneck of teaching Chinese as a second language.This will inevitably affect the consequence of Chinese teaching and become a disadvantage in the teaching progress.Chinese character learning in an initial stage is an important starting point in the learning process.It highlights how difficult Chinese characters are for foreigners.The teaching methods can determine the attitude of Chinese learners and have a long-term effect on Chinese learning.Therefore,it is critical for the educators to invent an efficient method which applies to the pattern of learning a second language of foreigner Chinese learners with the characteristics of Chinese characters.This paper is to introduce a Chinese characters' component-structure teaching method,based on other educators' experiments and information and my teaching experience.It consists of three chapters.It analyzes how to efficiently improve the Chinese characters memorizing ability and overall performance in the initial stage of learning Chinese.First,to put forward the reason,meaning,background and the object of the research,analyzing the deep importance of researching the model of Chinese characters teaching.In this part,I also summarizes the research status of Chinese characters' component-structure teaching.Second,to analyze the possibility of the Chinese characters' component-structure teaching method from a perspective of the characteristics of Chinese character and the cognitive habit of foreigner students.Third,introduce the main part of the teaching method,including core elements,teaching content,specific instructional design,etc...Then propose some feasible means and suggestions.Forth,to investigate the result of the teaching method,based on an experiment and a survey on two classes from the Kensington public school...
