The important concept of "core competencies of student development" has been put forward by the Ministry of education of China in 2014.The "core competencies" has become a hot topic in the Chinese education circles.How to link the core competencies and English core competencies with the development of rural pupils’ English listening and speaking ability is the starting point of this research.On the basis of reading a large number of relevant literature and under the guidance of the theory of "core competencies",using a self-compiled questionnaire with good reliability and validity,this research makes a quantitative study on some influencing factors of the development of English listening and speaking ability of pupils in X Primary School,and then constructs a multiple linear regression model.Finally,the Students,English Perfonnance,the Environment of Listening and Speaking at Home,Family Members5 Work Experience and Students5 School Experience and so on turn out to be the most important factors influencing rural primary school pupils’ ability of English listening and speaking.After that,we try to understand the practical problems in the procedures of developing rural pupils’ ability of English listening and speaking.And then try to give some advice for improving rural pupils’ ability of English listening and speaking,hoping to realize the effective development of rural pupils’ ability of English listening and speaking.
