Teacher-student relationship is one of the most basic and important interpersonal relationships in educational activities.Therefore,the teacher-student relationship has always been one of the topics concerned and studied by quite a few educators and psychologists.Language teaching is not only a cognitive process,but also an emotional process.As one of the most important emotional factors,good and harmonious teacher-student relationship is the premise or guarantee to achieve the goal of English teaching.Learning motivation is an internal psychological process that guides students' learning activities,maintains the learning activities that makes the learning activities towards a certain learning goal.The purpose of this study is to explore the current situation of teacher-student relationship and learning motivation and the influence of teacher-student relationship on learning motivation.This paper firstly reviews the relevant researches and theoretical basis of teacher-student relationship and learning motivation.And then the influence of teacher-student relationship on English learning motivation is selected as the perspective of the research.148 students from an ordinary junior middle school in Wuhan are chosen as the research subject."The teacher-student relationship questionnaire" and "the learning motivation questionnaire" were distributed separately.Then the collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics,independent samples T test,One-way ANOVA,Pearson correlation analysis and linear regression analysis.Additionally,the current situation of English learning motivation and the teacher-student relationship and the relationship between them were discussed in detail.This study adopts quantitative method.The following questions are expected to be answered:(1)What is the current situation of the teacher-student relationship in junior middle school?(2)What is the current situation of junior middle school students' English learning motivation?(3)What are the influences of teacher-student relationship on learning motivation?The research represents that the teacher-student relationship is in a good level.Among them,the dimension of satisfaction gets the highest average score.There is no significant difference in teacher-student relationship on students' gender.The grade of students has little influence on the conflict,but it has significant influence on the closeness,support and satisfaction.There is no significant difference in teacher-student relationship on academic performance.In terms of learning motivation,the average score of deep motivation is the highest.There is no significant difference in students' learning motivation on gender.Students' grade has a great influence on students' deep motivation and surface motivation,but little influence on students'achievement motivation.There is no significant difference in students' learning motivation on achievement.Closeness,support and satisfaction are positively correlated with deep motivation while negatively correlated with superficial motivation.The dimension of conflict and deep motivation are correlated negatively,and a significant positive correlation between conflict and surface motivation.There is no significant correlation between achievement motivation and all dimensions of teacher-student relationship.Moreover,closeness and support have a positive effect on students' learning motivation.At the same time,based on the research results,the author puts forward specific measures on how to build a harmonious teacher-student relationship to stimulate students' English learning motivation in the future.
