| Nowadays English teaching in primary school has gained more attention in China.More and more concerning researches are carried out.New English curriculum standard for primary schools points out the specific aims on listening,speaking,reading and writing.With further research,linguistic researchers and educational researchers have considered pupils’ cognition level and found out that pupils are more likely influenced by the transfer of mother tongue during their second-language acquisition.However,researches about written expression are limited.Therefore,this thesis is focused on the Syntactic Transfer of Pupils’ Written Expression.To start with,this thesis introduces the background,aims and significance of the research.Then the thesis also summarizes the concerning theories,definitions,histories and researches at home and broad of transfer of mother tongue,including markedness theory.Next,subjects,methods,instruments and procedures are presented.Students in grade 6 from Yichang Experimental Primary School are the subjects.They finished questionnaire,translation exercise and written expression.The author collects all the materials and results.Then the author analyzed the results and has found that syntactic transfer stands out in writing--The mainly three aspects of syntactic transfer in written expression of primary school students:tense,subject-verb concord,and the word order of interrogative sentences and negative sentences.After a questionnaire and its results analysis,the thesis discussed the listed errors of a translation practice and analyzes the markedness differences of Chinese and English in tense,subject-verb concord,and the word order of interrogative sentences and negative sentences.Then the thesis collects the writing materials and analyzes the above three aspects according to the writing materials.At last,the thesis makes a conclusion about the research and gives certain suggestions about written expression teaching.Teachers should be aware of the markedness differences between English and Chinese.During the teaching and practicing,teachers should adjust the order of learning difficulties that may caused by transfer and also points out some the limits of the research. |
