| Shuo Wen Jie Zi(Shuo Wen)is written by Xu Shen,who lived in the Eastern Han dynasty.The tremendous dictionary includes character analysis,pronunciation recognizing and so on.Some parts of Shuo Wen lose and change during the course of copy.Many scholars have tried to restore and facilitate reading the dictionary by making comments.The exegetics of the dictionary I reached peak by the Qing dynasty.Duan,Yucai,one of the famous scholars in that period,has spent almost 40 years working on the restoring of Shuo Wen.By using both internal and external evidence methods,Duan represents his work in Annotation to Shuo Wen Jie Zi Zhu(Is also called Duan Zhu).This thesis will compare the eighth chapter of Duan Zhu with Shuo Wen(the version published in 1963).The thesis contains five parts.There are 254 differences found,which are called corrections.These corrections are illustrated in the first three chapters:correction with words,correction without words,and correction within words.Each chapter is further analyzed from the following components:correcting the Zhuanshu,correcting the meaning,correcting the pronunciation,correcting the quotations and correcting other characters.The forth chapter expounds the "San Zi Ju" in "Corrections" and analyses the differences and connections between"San Zi Ju" and "Lian Zhuan Du".The fifth chapter explores the characteristics of Corrections in Duan Zhu,hoping to provide some methods and techniques for further studies of corrections. |
