| The research of Ling Shuhua has been popular in recent years, but for Ling Shuhua’s literary activities in the 1930s and 1940s,the research circles seldom involved them. The 1930s and 1940s in China, the constant wars and disputes, the social living environment,Ling Shuhua’s marriage with Chen Xiying, and Ling Shuhua’s own state have all influenced her creation.Ling Shuhua’s experience in this period is much richer than before. This paper studies Ling Shuhua’s literary activities in the 1930s and 1940s,including Ling Shuhua’s life experience and her literary works. The paper interprets Ling Shuhua from the war background in the 1930s and 1940s,and also from Ling Shuhua’s literary works to show a dimension of Chinese literature in the 1930s and 1940s.The introduction explains the particularity of Ling Shuhua in the 1930s and 1940s.The lack of research on Ling Shuhua’s literary activities in the 1930s and 1940s is the starting point of this paper. The text is divided into three chapters according to the change of Ling Shuhua’s living area, which links Ling Shuhua’s literary activities, literary works and the background of the times in each period. In the first chapter,Ling Shuhua’s living place is moved from Beijing to Wuhan as the starting point of the thesis, which explains the reasons of Ling Shuhua’s geographical changes and her psychological changes, and explains her close relationship with Beijing cultural circle. The second chapter is the focus of this paper. It elaborates the influence of "war" on Ling Shuhua, carefully analyses Ling Shuhua’s literary activities in Wuhan, and deeply discusses the publication "Modern Literature and Art" edited by Ling Shuhua and her newsletter articles which have not attracted the attention of the research circle at present. In the analysis of Ling Shuhua’s editor-in-chiefs publications, the focus is to comb and understand Ling Shuhua’s literary works.Chapter three explores Ling Shuhua’s novella "Chinese Children",digging deep into the creative background and textual meaning, and discussing the other side of the unknown "Luojia Sanjie".Ling Shuhua’s literary creation can be roughly divided into three stages:the 1920s,the 1930s and 1940s,and after going abroad, the 1930s and 1940s are the focus of the article. There are two peaks in Ling Shuhua’s literary creation:in the 1920s in Peiping and in the 1930s and 1940s in Wuhan. The women in the boudoir, the aunt’s wife and the new women closely related to themselves are the protagonists of Ling Shuhua’s works in the 1920s.In the 1930s and 1940s,her creative vision shifted to lower-class women and children. With the advance of the War of Resistance Against Japan,Ling Shuhua’s works have a clear color of the times.Ling has created a newsletter, which is a subject rarely touched upon by her.The novella "Chinese Children" is another manifestation of her concern for current affairs.Since her arrival in Wuhan,Ling Shuhua’s works have become more personal,"Xiao Liu","Journey" and other works are based on her own experience, and "Chinese Children" is also based on her life in Peiping. The pain brought by the war,the sadness brought by the death of her lover and the discomfort brought by life make Ling Shuhua pay attention to her inner emotional world. At this stage,Ling Shuhua created children’s stories, taking her childhood life as a starting point, using the simple perspective of children to explore the complexity of the adult world.Whether Ling Shuhua’s works or her life, the 1930s and 1940s are significantly different from her past, which is worthy of further study. |
