In the late Qing Dynasty,the insurance system was introduced into China from western countries.With the emergence of rural problems and the ideological trend of "saving the country by agriculture",the Nanjing National Government put forward the slogan of "rejuvenating the countryside" in order to solve the rural problems in the 1930 s,which attracted the attention and research of scholars at that time.And agricultural insurance as a new rural economic system,applied to the cause of rural renewal,spread in some areas.Therefore,the agricultural insurance thought has aroused the academic circles and the government high attention,also obtained the widespread research.Agricultural insurance played a positive role in the development of rural economy during the period of the Republic of China.Restrictions,coupled with the special historical period of the War of Resistance against Japan,still have great limitations.This paper mainly studies the introduction and spread of the agricultural insurance thought,the intervention and promotion of the national government,the operation of the agricultural insurance business and the organization of agricultural insurance from the three aspects of the country,society and farmers.Farmers’ acceptance and selection of agricultural insurance and the effects of agricultural insurance.It helps people to understand the development of agricultural insurance in the period of the Republic of China,and also helps people to understand the actual operation of agricultural insurance at that time,as well as the main contradictions and problems.For the development of modern agricultural insurance industry to provide the necessary theoretical reference and practical experience.
