As the most far-reaching war of the world,the World War II(hereinafter referred as WWII)gained much attention of domestic and foreign scholars.The translated text involved in this report is an excerpt of Blitzkrieg: From the Rise of Hitler to the Fall of Dunkirk,which is exactly a book records the WWII from the angle of Germany.This book covers the period of Germany after the World War I(hereinafter referred as WWI)to Germany’s surrender of WWII.It records the predicament that Germany met after defeated in the WWI.The book illustrates the WWII from the causation,combines with Hitler’s personal experience and the development of Blitzkrieg.Therefore,based on the Functional Equivalence theory by translation theorist Eugene Nida,I hope that the target readers will expose the WWII from a new vision and have different thinking about the war.The translation mainly focuses on the target reader’s acceptance and understanding to the target text.Through this translation,it is hoped that readers may find more information about the War from.The translation report has two parts: the first is the comparison between the source text and the target text.The source text of this part is selected form the part one of the book Blitzkrieg: From the Rise of Hitler to the Fall of Dunkirk and the second part is the translation report,it is mainly divided into four parts: introduction,translation process,case study and conclusion.The Case Study mainly used the Functional Equivalence theory as theoretical guidance.The case study is based on the source text and the target text comparison.The strategies taken in the translation include amplification and domestication for the quality control of the target text.Through the utilization of the translation strategies,I hope the translation could be readable for the target readers.The last part is the conclusion,it is mainly about the gains and shortcomings of the translation practice.
