The material of this report is selected from Chapter 1 and 2 of Escalation of Commitment in Internationalization Processes – The Role of Bounded Rationality in the Uppsala Model,written by Bj?rn R?ber in 2018.This book examines escalation of commitment in corporate internationalization process(IP)in the field of international business research by providing a critical review of bounded rationality in the Uppsala Model which tends to neglect behavioral research insights.Chapter 1 presents an introduction of bounded rationality and IP research,and Chapter 2 analyzes rationality as the basic criterion for the evaluation of judgment and decision-making processes.This informative text shares both features of Business English and academic text due to the professionalism,logic and formality.This text belongs to informative text according to Peter Newmark‘s text typology theory.Based on the features of informative text,Communicative Translation put forward by Newmark is predominately adopted in the translation.In the translation process,in order to address the difficulties which mainly lie in economic terms,academic words,nominalization,passive sentences,and long and complex sentences,strategies and methods including addition,omission,conversion,change of voice,adjustment of sentence order and combination and division of sentences are considered.The selected strategy and methods may contribute to a more understandable and fluent translation of the text without impairing the professionalism and formality.This translation practice report makes a conclusion about translation strategies and methods for Business English text and academic text,providing reference and guidance for prospective translation.
