The American artist John Singer Sargent’s artistic activities focused on the European and American painting field from the 1870 s to the 1920 s.To a certain extent,the special watercolors have filled the gap of the Impressionist school in watercolors.Compared with its oil paintings,Sargent is closer to the nature of Sargent’s longing for freedom,and has had a very important impact on the development of European,American and Chinese watercolors.This article is divided into five parts to study Sargent watercolor art language.The first chapter first analyzes Sargent’s contemporary environment and changing artistic thoughts horizontally,and then analyzes his life’s artistic practice course vertically,and explores the causes of Sargent’s watercolor art language from internal and external causes.Chapters and chapters apply the imagery methodology to analyze Sargent’s watercolors.From the picture features of Sargent’s watercolor landscape painting and watercolor figure painting: jumping strokes,colorful colors,"lens-like" composition,rigorous modeling.The proper artistic language of five aspects further digs into the ideological,contemporary,artistic,and influence of Sargent watercolors.The fourth chapter mainly summarizes Sargent’s style characteristics influenced by Realism and Impressionism,and expounds it in modernism.By studying the era of Sargent’s watercolors,he can dig deeper into Sargent’s watercolors.Artistic language.The fifth chapter is the contribution of Sargent watercolors and its influence on the development of eastern and western watercolors.
