A Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of Electronic Technology Text

With the development of science and technology,scientific and technological exchanges between countries are increasingly frequent,which renders the translation of electronic texts necessary.Electronic scientific English,different from general English,requires professional background knowledge,which brings difficulties to translation.This report addresses the issue and conducts electronic technology text translation practice.The object of translation practice is Middle Power Class-D Speaker Amplifier series 17W+17W Full Digital Speaker Amplifier with built-in DSP BM28723AMU.Based on Adaptation Theory,the report finds ways to solve the translation problems in electronic technology text.Adaptation Theory points out that language use is the process by which language users constantly choose linguistic means to achieve communicative intentions according to the communicative context.Adaptation is reflected in the choice of language based on different environment and structure.Adaptation Theory has three concepts,namely variability,negotiability and adaptability.There are also four main analytical dimensions,namely,contextual correlates of adaptability,structural objects of adaptability,dynamic of adaptability and salience of the adaptation process.Based on contextual correlates of adaptability and structural objects of adaptability,this report analyzes translation texts from lexical and syntactic levels,and adopts different translation strategies to ensure the accuracy of translation and complete translation practice.This report has four chapters:translation practice description,research status of electronic technology text translation and Adaptation Theory,case study of translation practice and translation practice summary.The first chapter introduces the background,significance and process of translation practice.The second chapter summarizes the current research status of electronic technology text and Adaptation Theory,which proves that Adaptation Theory has guiding function to electronic text translation.The third chapter analyzes Adaptation Theory and text features first,and then the translation practice cases from contextual correlates of adaptability and structural objects of adaptability.Firstly,it summarizes the textual features of the texts,and then analyzes the vocabulary translation from context,and the translation of the passive sentences,nominalization and logical sentences from language structure with different translation strategies.The fourth chapter summarizes the translation practice report.This translation practice report aims to summarize the translation strategies of electronic technology texts.The report is to provide some help to professionals or college students when they are learning or reading English datasheets.And translators interested in the electronic information industry can also get some translation methods through this thesis.
