Decadence And Redemption

As a member of the current "post-70s" writer group,Shi Yifeng stepped into the literary world with youth writing,and then turned to realistic writing.Marked by the publication of "The World Is No Longer Chen Jinfang" in 2014,Shi Yifeng’s creative characteristics have gradually become prominent.Existing research on Shi Yifeng’s novels mainly focuses on the following aspects.Firstly,they gave attention to the ideological connotation of novel research,such as moral dilemma,belief crisis,social class issues,and the struggling spirit of the small figures at the bottom.Secondly,they cared about the study of novel techniques,such as the analysis of the characters,the discussion on narrative perspective and narrative structure.In the above research,although the scholars have noticed the image of "zero remainder" in novels,they did not pay enough attention to it.First of all,the analysis on the image of "zero remainder" is often relatively shallow,and few commentators notice that Shi Yifeng’s novels observe the current society with the eyes of "zero remainder".Through the introduction of this special perspective,it’s easier for the author to capture the spiritual crux of the decadent era and to start his own creation.The narrative of his novels is mostly related to this.Secondly,the blind point of the study is to ignore the obvious spiritual growth history of "zero remainder" in Shi Yifeng’s novels,that is,the spiritual change and mental journey from "decadence" to "redemption".The current research stays on the simple classification and overview of the characters.And researchers only pay attention to the common feature of "zero remainder" in the literary tradition.They find neither the exploration of the spiritual outlet in Shi Yifeng’s novels,nor do in-depth research on the mentality and spiritual outlook of "zero remainder",and more importantly,their unique spiritual growth is ignored.Therefore,this paper takes "zero remainder" as the research object,and uses"decadence" and "redemption" as the breakthrough point to study their spiritual decadence and self-redemption in Shi Yifeng’s novels.The paper is aimed to explore the spiritual reality of urban youth living in the transformation era since 1980s and 1990s,to analyze their decadent status,and to reveal their unwillingness to sink and the path of spiritual breakthrough.This paper is organized into three chapters for discussion:The first chapter primarily talks about the spiritual decadence of "zero remainder".First of all,the decadence of "zero remainder" is manifested as the failure feeling in embarrassing life,which mainly comes from the continuation of historical suffering and the frustration of personal experience.Secondly,the decadence of "zero remainder" is also manifested as a psychology of resentment and anxiety,which is mainly due to the suppression of class identity and the hidden worry about moral anomie.Finally,the spiritual drifting and emptiness is also a prominent manifestation of the decadence of"zero remainder",which is mainly the sense of driftage in a foreign land and the sense of void in the spiritual world.Chapter two mainly focuses on the self-redemption of "zero remainder".First of all,female salvation is an important path for the spiritual breakout of "zero remainder".The power of maternal love and the strong spiritual appeal of women jointly constructed the home of spiritual redemption.Secondly,running away is also one of the ways for the spiritual redemption of "zero remainder".Urban roaming is a good try to find a different life.Afterwards,they grew into heroes by rescuing the disaster on the wandering road and complete the final spiritual breakthrough.Finally,the rebirth in despair is also the key to the self-salvation of "zero remainder".By the self-destructive rebellion,some young people break free from the decadent spiritual bondage,and others wake up at the critical moment when they are on the verge of death.The third chapter mainly discusses the writing value about the image of "zero remainder".First of all,through the presentation of the decadence on "zero remainder",Shi Yifeng accurately grasped the spiritual crux of the epoch.And his writing shows a strong quality of caring.In addition,he explores the self-redemption way of "zero remainder",and also provides a reference for spiritual breakthrough for the youth in the real word.And Shi Yifeng’s writing also has an important realistic significance to the development of current literature.Taking "zero remainder" as the research object and perspective,this paper analyzes the decadent spiritual state of urban youth in Shi Yifeng’s novels,as well as the action of self-redemption,and discovers Shi Yifeng’s observation and thinking on the current state of mentality.In particular,it should be pointed out that,in a sense,the attention and research on the image of "zero remainder" in the contemporary literary history is the improvement of the genealogy of "zero remainder" in the literary tradition since the late Qing Dynasty.That has an important value in the study of literary history.In addition,I also find that Shi Yifeng’s writing has an important influence on the development direction of current literature in this paper.
