The Study On Construction Of Quotative Negation "Shenmejiaox" In Modern Chinese

This thesis is concerned with the modern Chinese construction of quotative negation "shenme jiao X".Based on the integratly uses of metalinguistic negation,conversation analysis,construction grammar,stance taking theory.The thesis systematically describes component and sequences of the modern Chinese construction of quotative negation "shenme jiao X",explores negative object of the constuction,and then discussed pragmatic functions and formation mechanism of the modern Chinese construction of quotative negation "shenme jiao X".On the one hand,the research on the modern Chinese construction of quotative negation "shenme jiao X" can provide cases for the study of Chinese metalanguage negation and further promote the development of the research on the theory of metalanguage negation.On the other hand,it can provide reference for the research on the negative usage of interrogative pronoun "shenme".The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly clarifies the origin of the topic,the relevant research status and research methods.The second chapter is the component and sequence of "shenme jiao X".This chapter begins with divides the components of the construction into "shenme" of the interrogative function,"jiao" of the call-quote function and "X" of the quoted component,and describes "X" from three aspects of form category,presentation form and sources.Then,this chapter explores the sequence distribution of construction of quotative negation "shenmejiaoX",and investigates the distribution preference of the construction in the conversation sequence and the position in the turn.The third chapter is the negative object of "shenme jiao X".According to whether the construction of quotative negation "shenme jiao X" negates the suitability of sentence expression or the specific content represented by proposition or X,we divide the construction of quotative negation "shenme jiao X" into two categories: metalinguistic negation sentence and cross-domain negative sentence.As far as the specific object of negation is concerned,there are obvious differences between the two types of negative sentences.According to the different objects of specific negation,the construction of quotative negation "shenme jiao X" in these two kinds of negative sentences can be divided into different subordinate types.The fourth chapter is about the pragmatic function and forming mechanism of "shenme jiao X".By investigating “shenme jiao X” in different contexts,this paper concludes that its pragmatic functions include counter-expectation function,negative position expression function and focus prominence function.It also explores the mechanism of "shenme jiao X" structure from expressing genuine doubt to expressing negation.The forming mechanism of the quotative negative construction "shenme jiao X" is explained by subjectivisation and interactive subjectivisation,reanalysis and absorption of context.
