A Translation Report On China Daily News Stories From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation

China Daily is an important publicity window for the country,with a global circulation of 900,000 copies a year.Covering politics,economy,culture and education,sports as well as editorial,China Daily is a crucial channel for people from the rest of the world to know better about China.During the author’s work at China Daily,the frequent stories she translates can be classified as province and city publicity stories,corporate news stories and industry news stories.How to accurately and effectively translate the Chinese materials into English stories that are qualified to be published on various platforms of China Daily and then obtain an effective dissemination are the core issues the translator has to deal with.Based on Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory,this paper discusses the issue of improving Chinese-English news translation by means of textual case analysis.The paper consists of four chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the background,goal and significance of the translation project,explaining the importance of C-E news translation.Chapter 2 introduces the text content and text analysis of the translation project as well as the research status.Chapter 3 is about the translation process,including preliminary preparation,theoretical framework,translation difficulties and translation strategies,in an attempt to explore the guiding role of communicative translation theory in C-E news translation.Chapter 4 summarizes the translation reflections,findings and future improvements.
