| In junior high school English teaching,teachers and students generally aware that English reading is the highlight of English learning.Therefore,how to improve the teaching effect of English reading has always been a subject that every English teacher insists on exploring.At present,the research on this subject mainly focuses on reading text analysis and teaching technology renewal,although the text illustration,as an important auxiliary resource of teaching,is of great help to arouse students ’ reading interest and auxiliary reading teaching,it is seldom used and excavated.The author holds the view that the illustration resources closely related to the text in the textbook should be noticed.Based on the theories of constructivism and schema,this thesis takes several different middle schools,different grades of junior high school English teachers as the research objects.Through questionnaire survey method,classroom observation method and case study method for qualitative and quantitative research,the thesis aims to solve the following three questions: Firstly,how is the use of text illustrations in junior high school English reading teaching? Secondly,what principles should be followed and what functions should be performed when the teacher uses text illustrations? Thirdly,how to use text illustrations to improve the effectiveness of English reading teaching through instructional design? Through the investigation and research,it is found that teachers encounter some problems when they use text illustrations,for example,they don’t understand the background knowledge of it,or tell students their understanding of the text illustrations directly,or they are troubled by the uneven distribution of classroom time and the difficulty of selecting many pictures,etc.So,in the use of text illustrations,the author emphasizes that we should follow the principles of flexibility,appropriateness and subsidiary,and then play the function of illustration,such as stimulating students ’ interest,mapping text content,activating schema,educating students.In view of this,the author provides some teaching ideas for teachers through the use of text illustrations to assist reading teaching,in order to encourage teachers to use text illustrations reasonably and effectively to help students eliminate reading difficulties as much as possible,and to reduce reading difficulty and improve students’ interest in reading.In a word,it is meaningful for combining the text illustration into junior high school English reading teaching.This can not only guide the practice of English teaching,but also put forward some reference suggestions for renewing the teaching idea and changing the teaching method.Therefore,the rational application of illustrations to the classroom in reading teaching will achieve the teaching effect of doing more with less. |
